HOUSEHOLD DINNER PROGRAM
History of the house - a legend of four generations of distinguished Banskalians.
Presentation of traditional swimwear.
We will introduce you to the traditional Bulgarian clothing in the Pirin area and especially here in Bansko. As our city has been a prosperous trading centre for centuries, many of the clothes have been imported from abroad, but the basic "fashion trend" has not changed.
Women's clothing is colourful, and patterned, with numerous ornaments. All women or girls had separate dresses for everyday life, for a holiday, for working in the fields, etc. The official clothing consisted of: a long woollen (for winter) or silk (for hot days) dress, and under it - a shirt or nightgown, which had a unique ornament - embroidery, woven by the girl herself. The apron is an integral part of the costume, as well as the headscarf, which is different for each type of costume and is usually very lavish. Shoes in the past have been flats or slippers in all sorts of colours and shapes. At home, women wore woollen, handmade kilts. Casual and work clothes were simple and comfortable, without patterns or ornaments. Women had to wear something suitable for hard work in the fields and at home. On holidays and special occasions, wealthy women wore necklaces and earrings.
Men's clothing was very interesting and richly decorated. Every man had to have at least one formal suit, which consisted of embroidered trousers and a shirt, a red belt with a woven knife or pistol, a waistcoat and a flower cap. Casual clothing was simple and comfortable for working in the forest.
The traditional Bansko costumes have gathered the bright colours of the sea, reflect the authentic spirit of our city and take us back to the time when Bansko was an old-fashioned small town without big hotels and taverns. Looking at these gorgeous garments, we can feel the whiff of history in this little paradise at the foot of the Pirin Mountains.
Guests knead their pita and eat dinner.
Men have the unique opportunity to cut wood themselves with an old saw (in pairs, a competition is organized)

Here, at the foot of the Pirin mountain, the houses look like monasteries, with high stone walls and small shuttered windows. The true Bulgarian spirit is hidden behind fortified walls and heavy gates - in spacious rooms with friezes and carved ceilings and doors, woven rugs and embroidered pillows, in murals and icons.
From the street, the house is entered through a gate into a wide courtyard, where there is either a fountain or a well. The gate has a solid structure with a tiled roof. A car or beast of burden enters through it. Adjacent to the courtyard is the garden with fruit trees, vegetables and flowers.
From the courtyard, you pass into the room called "kašcha" - this is the kitchen with shelves, cupboards and a cooking hearth. The second room is called "talk" and serves as a bedroom and living room. The third is called "room" and serves as a bedroom and living room. The "room" serves as a bedroom, for living and receiving guests. In all rooms, there is a hearth with a chimney high above the roof. The dark corridor between several doors is called "burial". There is also a fifth room - "guitar", where the bread is kneaded and baked in the oven. There is a ceiling - "potono", and under the rooms is a winter room, where there are cats with sauerkraut, bacon and hanging "navpav" with Banski starets. In the yard are the barn and a hayloft with a "pad" - a stable for livestock and a coop for pigs. Something is needed in the yard. In some houses, there is also a "Kimmer", which is located under the house - a hidden fortress with a secret entrance and exit. It is entered through secret iron heavy doors. It serves to hide things and people in dangerous times.
Bonus – traditional Bulgarian musical instruments.

Embark on the adventures offered by the Molerite boutique complex team
Experience with us a picnic in the mountains, an adventure you will remember for a long time!
Let us tell you the legend of the area where we will take you to feel the power and weight of Ban's originality and history...
At the time in Bansko, the Kardjalians were called "aiti" and came to the village to rob and burn the houses, rape people and fornicate with girls. They were facilitated by the fact that Bansko was a purely Bulgarian village and had no representative of the Turkish authorities, besides it was the largest and richest settlement in the vicinity, right on the road to Melnik through the Pirin Mountains. It was precisely on this path that the Aitites moved.
They attacked in hordes of 50-100 people because they were not afraid of anyone, they came at any time, entered the village solemnly with drums and horns, shouts, songs, thunder. In front walked a young man without a beard or mustache, dressed like a young bride - in tinsel and silk, adorned from top to bottom with necklaces of precious ornaments and jewels.
When the people heard that the Aites were coming, they all hastened to hide behind the tall dovars of their houses, but as the whole population could not run and hide, some remained to meet the Aites on their knees as an inevitable evil.
The Aits always stayed in the nicest and most comfortable houses, indulged in binges and orgies. They were not satisfied with drinking and eating, which the Banskalians were obliged to supply to them in large quantities and at will, but they also encroached on the women.
These ominous visits were repeated periodically, the people suffered greatly and the evil had no end. Then they decided that if they tried to help themselves, God would also help them.
In order to help his brothers and sisters, Terzi Nikola gathered a group, which armed itself with long rifles, pistols, knives, curved sabers and went to a certain area - where the Damianitsa valley unfolds and forms a small meadow through which the Glazne river flows. There is a huge rock by the river and a deep blue pool near it. The company hid around this area as everyone was waiting for a sign from the voivode - to fire his rifle when the Aites entered the trap and could not get out.
After their ominous stay in Bansko, the robbers set off on this road to cross the mountain, all the villagers were gathered in the church and prayed to God to help the group and save Bansko from evil.
And then up in the mountain the first gun went off, the Aites were so surprised and stunned that they could not offer any resistance.
Almost the whole gang fell to a place where bare skulls rolled long afterwards.
Since then, this area was called "The Heads". Thus, the Aitas disappeared forever, and with them the evil that they carried to the end.

Representation of an ancient bathing custom
Nishane - an old bathing custom
On the day before St. George's Day/Spasov's Day, a pot of water is poured and all the girls put on one wrist with a ring-nishan tied to it. The first nishan is with a married woman's ring and is worn by a young girl with living parents. The pot is placed under a rose and is protected all night from the boys and evil forces, wrapped in a scarlet cloth. At sunrise the pot is taken out and the maidens begin to dance around it and sing the traditional song for the holiday. Each refrain of the song shows the fate of the girl whose target is removed after it is sung.
The girl whose target is taken out first will get married soon, this year. The second will marry a merchant, the third a builder, the next a musician or a teacher... When all the maidens have received their wristbands, they end with a dance around the pot, which is hidden until the following year to predict the fate of the maidens again.
Introducing vintage bathing games
Potty - an old bathing game
In a wide circle stand at a distance children who are potty. Each of them is a traditional feast from Bansko. Next to them are their owners. One of the children does not have a pot and goes to look for it from the others, asking them: "Grandma, what is boiling in your pot?" The grandmother answers: kapama, chumlek, sui chushchi, etc. The child asks her: "Will you give me some of your feast?" and the grandmother replies: "I give to a Turk, I don't give to you!" Then they clap their hands together and run in opposite directions around the circle, each hurrying to boil the pot. Whoever boils it becomes his master, and the other one goes to another pot. The game continues until all the folk feasts are lined up.
Tsvetice - an old bathing game
Several children gather and each is named after a flower. Another comes to their group, knocking as if on the door. The following dialog is launched:
- Who's knocking?
- Archangel Gabriel.
- What does he want?
- Flower.
- What flower?
- Geranium (rosehip, clove, calendula, etc.)
The child who hears his name goes to the person asking. If there is no such flower, the stomper goes away and comes back again. When the flowers he asked for are equal to the rest of the group, a line is drawn between the two groups. The children grab a stick and begin to draw until the stronger group wins, i.e. until he crosses the line.
Presentation of bathing anecdotes
Bathing anecdotes (lounges)
A very stubborn man lived in Bansko. His name was Hadji Kandit Dagaradin. One day he went to the square to drink coffee and met a Simidchi. He shouted: "White, soft and hot, white, soft and hot! Buy it, Hadji the Candies!” And he shouts to him: "I don't want white, soft and hot, I want black, hard and cold!" This is what is called swimming stubbornness.
Two neighbors met after Easter. One asked the other:
- Lenko, why don't you fast the whole Great Lent? I see Mitko has lost a lot of weight. He can barely harness the cart.
- I am fasting, and he is with me.
- Well, it doesn't look like you, you're still the same, and he...
- It's because when it's time to eat I eat lean and he doesn't taste anything.
- How did he get so cranky?
- He is not capricious, but he does not eat, because before every meal he hides, so as to save food.

Rozhen Monastery
The Rozhen Monastery is the largest monastery in the Pirin region and one of the few medieval Bulgarian monasteries preserved relatively intact to this day. According to chronicles kept in Athos, Greece, it was established in the distant year 890. The church of the monastery - Holy Nativity of the Virgin, subsequently gave its name to the nearby village of Rozhen. The monastery has an irregular hexagonal shape, with residential buildings surrounding a beautiful courtyard, in the middle of which is the church. All the buildings were constructed at different periods, with the monastic refectory, the ossuary and several of the farm buildings being the oldest, dating back to before the fire in the 17th century. Apart from the well-preserved wall paintings, the monastery is also famous for its stained glass windows and unique wood carvings.
The old church in the village of Dobarsko
It was built in 1614 by sober and wealthy people, and the most prominent of them, the founder - Khasia - visited Jerusalem and "other holy places", bringing holy soil from the Holy Sepulcher to this temple, so that people who cannot reach the Holy Sepulchre, visiting the Old Church to receive a Holy Sepulcher blessing, spiritual purification and grace here in this holy place. In 1978, this priceless cultural monument was restored and entered in the UNESCO list of cultural monuments. In the altar space of the basilica there are unique frescoes depicting Jesus Christ in a rocket, as well as St. Cyril and St. Polycarp.
Church "Holy Trinity" in the city of Bansko
It was built in 1835 by local craftsmen. Lazar Golev is the donor and organizer of the construction. The master of the church was Dimitar Doyuv, and of the tower with the belfry, completed in 1865 with Grigor Bl. Doyuv. "Holy Trinity" is among the most remarkable Bulgarian churches of the 2nd gender. in the XIX century; monument. It is 35 m long and wide. 22.5 m, it is covered with a gable roof, an arcade gallery opens from the west. The simplicity and compactness of the external and volume do not suggest the decorative baroque organization of the internal organization. It is dominated by the space of sr. a ship whose roof is raised on a high holkel. Arcades with tall columns separate it from the side 2 naves. The interior has both a monumental and highly decorative impact. It is the result of the synthesis between architecture, woodcarving and painting components of the temple space. In 1862 - 1865, the church was built in the church yard (belfry with a height of 30 m., with dimensions at the base of 5.20 m/5.20 m. On the roof of the tower above the bells rises a small wooden tower intended for the clock bell. The clock of the tower is work of the famous master - constructor from Bansko Todor Hadjiradonov.

Kovachevitsa, Leshten, Belitsa, Dobarsko, Rupite, Baikusheva Mura, etc.
Dolen village
225 km from the capital, shortly after Gotse Delchev, is the village of Dolen, which has preserved in its architecture the appearance of a typical Rhodope village from bygone times.
Kovachevitsa village
The village of Kovachevitsa is located along the Kanina River (Bloody River), surrounded by a crown of high headlands in the southwestern part of the Rhodopes - Dabrash. In 1977 Kovachevitsa has been declared a historical and architectural reserve. This, as well as the popularity of the village, which comes from the films filmed there (there is no other village where so many films have been shot - over 20, including "Measure according to mera", "Men's times" and many others.), brings in the village people who buy and restore abandoned houses and thus the village is saved from ruin.
Leshten village
The eco-village of Leshten is among the most attractive and authentic places for rural tourism in Bulgaria. It is located in the Western Rhodopes and offers a beautiful view of the Pirin Mountains. The eco village consists of 30 houses, 15 of which offer accommodation.
We also organize excursions in which we are "transported back in time" - when everything was real and intact:
